This bible verse captures the quintessential story of Martin's Chapel Baptist Church. The blessings of the Lord have been on Martin's Chapel Baptist Church for more than a hundred years. Beginning with our founder, the Reverend Willie Murray Wilson, and a number of faithful men and women through the years, we are grateful that God granted superior vision on the leaders of this great church.

Along with the Pleasant Grove community, Martin's Chapel Baptist Church continues to flourish and strives to become more relevant through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which reaches both present and future generations. We proudly carry the torch handed to us from our ancestors as we endeavor to enlighten our generation. As the old Negro spiritual says, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine."

As we hand over our flaming torch to our children to keep the legacy of Martin's Chapel Baptist Church alive and vibrant for another hundred years, we do so with the help and guidance of God Almighty.

The Current Years of

Reverend Robert Jarrell, Jr.'s Ministry

Our current pastor, Reverend Robert Jarrell, Jr. served as an interim pastor through 2008. he was elected the sixth pastor of Martin's Chapel Baptist Church in 2009.

Brothers Larry Blount, Steve Dixon, Hurdis Kimber, and Lawrence Watkins were ordained as deacons.
Several Deacons have served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, with Deacon Clarence Burnette as the current Chairman.
Sister Connie B. Yarborough was elected to serve as Church Secretary (2017).
Auxiliaries provide members opportunities to utilize their gifts to serve the church, some have been organized and modified.
The Youth, Gospel, Senior, and Male Choirs have incorporated musical instruments to enhance their sound and performance.
Sunday School remains vitally strongin the discipleship of Jesus' teachings and growth in our Christian faith.
Sunday School Superintendents: Sister Esther Dixon served; Deacon Roger Dixoncurrently serving, with Deacon Hurdis Kimber serving as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
